Food Safety Management System

What is FSSC 22000?

FSSC is a standard created 12 years ago by the FSSC Foundation, recognised by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), together, amongst others, with BRC and IFS. FSSC 22000 is based on the widely recognized Food Management System Standard ISO 22000. This scheme outlines the requirements for developing, implementing, and operating a food safety management system. The FSSC 22000 audit requirements are aligned with the existing standard ISO 22000:2018, relevant prerequisite programs (PRPs), technical specifications, and the additional requirements of FSSC.

Who needs it & What are the Benefits?

FSSC 22000 can be applied to organizations of any size or complexity within the food/feed supply chain. This encompasses manufacturers of various food and beverage products, ingredient/additive manufacturers, producers of pet and animal feed, as well as packaging manufacturers. Furthermore, the FSSC has broadened the scope of its standard to include transportation and storage, retail operations, and catering establishments.

This transition can be undertaken during any audit within your three-year certification cycle and will lead to the issuance of a new FSSC certificate.
